My Story
Growing Up in Georgia
I grew up in rural Georgia with no television, video games, not even a pager. What I did have was wide open spaces, access to power tools and my imagination. My childhood was filled with DIY tandem bicycles, three story tree houses, and occasionally playing with fire (literally).
Oh, I can do that myself.
As long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to do things on my own. This persistent feeling is what drove me to learn welding, video editing, swap my own transmission, and forego television for hours of YouTube how-to tutorials. Extreme self reliance isn’t always easy, but it makes me a stronger person.
Git ‘er Done
One of my first jobs was working for a chicken processing factory in the summer. I started out organizing more than fifteen years’ worth of files in a sweltering, steel warehouse in Georgia. I’ll always remember this as one of my most challenging jobs.
Starting Tinkering Monkey
A passion of mine is building interesting things in my home workshop. My personal project blog eventually morphed into a successful online store called Tinkering Monkey.
